Alpaca pixel art questions

Why does my alpaca look like a sheep?

Increase the visible neck length and separate the small head from the body. Keep the ears upright and leave a small gap under the chin. A round fleece body on its own is not enough to identify the animal.

How do I stop pale wool disappearing?

Use a background with a different lightness and reserve a slightly darker color for the outer fleece edge. White wool on a white canvas needs that edge more than it needs extra curls.

Can I pixelate a watercolor alpaca?

Yes, if its license allows adaptation. Expect softer color clusters than a deliberately drawn sprite. Reduce the palette, keep the silhouette, then simplify small wool marks if they become distracting.

What moves in the alpaca GIF?

The licensed cartoon gently bobs as a whole. It is a simple motion adaptation, not a native walking cycle. A walking animation needs separate leg positions and enough margin above the ears.

Build the neck. Add the fluff.

Try a clean alpaca outline first, then add a few fleece shadows that survive at the final size.
