Narrow the eyes, tilt the ears sideways and use a compact downturned mouth. For a full-body design, a stiff tail or arched back can communicate the mood even when the face is tiny.

No. A face study should preserve both ears and the brow area. An arched-back cat needs a wider crop that includes the tail and feet. Center the important shape rather than applying one tight crop to all sources.
The gray cat GIF on this page is a gentle whole-character bobbing adaptation. To make a tail-flick loop, keep the body fixed and leave space for the furthest tail position in every frame.
Choose a grumpy face or an arched silhouette, then make the ears, eyes and tail work together.
