Add a distinct projecting beak, a tail angle and a visible wing or chest division. A tiny eye by itself cannot establish a bird silhouette.
Choose a diagonal pose or wings angled upward, then fit the full wingspan with padding. Do not stretch a wide bird into a square.
A silhouette can work if the pose is unmistakable. For a colorful cartoon, separate the belly and wing with larger patches rather than scattering many feather colors.
A perched bird needs a clear chest, a small projecting beak and a tail that does not merge with the branch or feet.
