Nine-Tailed Fox Pixel Art: Tail Fans & Soft Illustration Studies

A fan of pale golden tails needs more room than the face alone. These two pixel treatments use one credited fox illustration by Beautiforce, keeping the difference between a full scene and a tighter character crop visible.

Nine-tailed fox pixel art questions

Why are the tails merging after reduction?

The shadows and background gaps may be too close in lightness. Preserve a few broad separations between curves and simplify fine fur texture before increasing the exported size.

Are these different nine-tailed fox characters?

No. Both gallery files adapt Beautiforce’s Nine-tailed Fox illustration: one retains more scene context, and one uses a closer character framing with a gentle bobbing loop. The shared character is explicitly retained.

Does the GIF animate each tail?

No. It moves the entire cropped illustration in an eight-frame bobbing loop. Independent tail movement would need a separately planned set of tail positions.

What license applies to the adapted images?

The source is by Beautiforce under CC BY-SA 4.0. The pixelated PNG, GIF and landscape banner retain attribution and are offered under the same license; changes include cropping, padding, palette reduction, resizing and the simple motion loop.

Give the tail fan its own space

Start with the outer tail curves, keep the head inside the same crop and add the face markings only after the full silhouette reads clearly.
