Tropical fish pixel art questions

Why does every fish look like the same oval?

Change the real silhouette: body height, snout length, dorsal fin and tail shape. A new stripe color does not replace those structural differences.

How do I keep yellow and white stripes distinct?

Reserve a slightly darker separator or edge and keep each band broad enough for the working grid. Check the eye and mouth remain visible against the light body.

Try your own tropical fish design

Give the tail a narrow connection before it widens into a fin. Start with that shape in the pixel art maker.
