Sad Cat Pixel Art: Soft Eyes, Low Brows & Quiet Faces

A sad cat can be a wide-eyed dark face, a pale seated kitten or a striped head study. Keep the expression in the eyes and mouth while preserving the pointed ear silhouette.

Sad cat pixel art questions

How do I make sadness readable without a giant tear?

Use a small downturned mouth, a slightly raised inner brow and a low head position. Keep the eyes calm rather than filling them with too many bright sparkles.

Why do the eyes vanish on a black cat?

Use a light eye or surrounding patch that contrasts with the fur. Preserve the space between the eyes and nose before adding whiskers or fine fur strokes.

Try your own sad cat design

Leave a little light space between the nose and downturned mouth. Start with that shape in the pixel art maker.
