Firefly pixel art questions

Why does the glow disappear on white?

The light abdomen needs a contrasting edge or a darker background. Adding more pale highlights on a white canvas will not create that separation.

Does the GIF show a blinking light?

No. The whole illustration gently floats; the light does not switch on and off. A flashing glow would need separately planned bright and dim frames.

Make the glow a single readable cluster

Choose the main silhouette first, then keep only the small details that remain readable at the final pixel size.
