A curved segmented body and long antennae can identify a shrimp with a small palette. Compare a bright geometric character, delicate line studies and a rounded shaded illustration.

Shrimp pixel art questions

Why does my shrimp look like a lobster?

Avoid oversized front claws and keep the body curved with a narrow head and long antennae. The source illustration should show a shrimp construction rather than relying only on a red color.

How can I retain very thin antennae?

Use connected pixel clusters and keep their curves away from the head outline. If the source line disappears on a coarse grid, choose finer sampling rather than simply enlarging the final missing line.

Try your own shrimp design

Place the longest antennae ahead of the head, and keep the shorter legs under the body. Start with that shape in the pixel art maker.
