Divoom Ditoo 5M Review: Music Ideas and Wireless Karaoke

The Divoom Ditoo 5M, listed by Divoom as Ditoo 5-Mic, interests Caren as a small music companion she can do more with than simply play songs. In this walkthrough by Caren Tevanny, the Bluetooth speaker becomes a pixel display, an outlet for musical ideas in the app and a wireless microphone system for speaking and singing.

The most distinctive part is her response as a musician. After changing faces and playing music, she explores the virtual keyboard and percussion tools, then tries the microphone's voice treatments. Her enthusiasm centers on being able to carry those playful activities together in a compact device.

Start with the speaker's own controls

Caren begins by holding the power button for a few seconds and reacting to the startup sound. Before building a phone-based setup, she introduces the clock display, navigation arrows, volume keys, display control and menu.

These physical controls give the retro keyboard a job. She can move between options and adjust the speaker directly, while the small LED screen keeps the result visible. The review also identifies the rechargeable design and, later, the rear charging connection.

Connect the app to change the screen

The Divoom app opens the larger selection of faces and display effects. Caren connects to the Ditoo 5M light connection, then chooses content on her phone while watching the speaker change. She also points to animation choices, visualizers, lighting colors and clock-color options.

The important interaction is immediate and visible: make a selection on the phone and check how it looks on the small screen. It is a more useful introduction to personalization than simply hearing that the speaker supports custom designs.

Screen control and music playback are related but distinct connections. The official manual gives separate iPhone instructions for Ditoo-5M-light inside the app and Divoom Ditoo-5M-audio in Bluetooth settings. It describes an app connection for both roles on Android. If pictures change but music does not play, the model-specific pairing instructions are a useful place to check the setup.

The music tools become a place to sketch ideas

Caren first points out music and voice-memo options in the app and plays a music example. She then finds the feature that particularly appeals to her: the music-making tools, including a DJ mixer and virtual instruments.

The phone becomes a small keyboard she can tap for musical notes. She also moves to percussion sounds and mentions the recording option. The speaker lets her hear the instruments she is playing in the phone app.

She compares the idea with GarageBand while immediately acknowledging that it is much less complete. Her interest is being able to try a tune, draft a song idea and hear it through the speaker. The walkthrough follows that process of experimenting with sounds.

That is a useful reason to explore this part of the app if you enjoy making music. It gives a casual idea somewhere to start, without requiring the small speaker to replace a full music-production setup.

The wireless microphone shifts the focus to performance

The included microphone adds a different interaction. Caren has fitted its foam cover, holds the microphone's power control and looks for the connected indicator before speaking. A brief “hello” test confirms that her voice is coming through the speaker.

Pressing the microphone control cycles through voice profiles. She tries pop and studio treatments, a robot-like voice and a childlike effect, as well as a singing-oriented sound with reverb. Some suit speaking practice, while the more exaggerated voices are clearly there for play.

She also sings through the microphone, giving the karaoke section a more personal demonstration than a list of presets. Her positive response concerns what she hears while speaking and singing in the room.

The official manual describes automatic microphone detection after power-on, a solid connection indicator and a separate microphone volume slider. Those controls are useful when moving from a first voice check to balancing singing against the music.

The final verdict is about carrying music and ideas with her

Near the end, Caren returns to music playback and raises the volume to its maximum for the demonstration. She is impressed by the output from the compact body.

She then shows the rear charging area and emphasizes that the speaker can be used from its rechargeable battery. The value for her is having music, song-sketching tools and a microphone available in a device she can move around.

For Caren, those uses belong together: listen to a track, try an idea on the app's keyboard, add a rhythm or pick up the microphone and sing. If that kind of informal music-making appeals to you, check the current Ditoo 5-Mic features and included accessories against the activities you would use most.
