Griffin pixel art questions

How do I keep a griffin from looking like an ordinary lion?

Retain a hooked beak and an unmistakable feathered wing shape. A lion-like body alone does not communicate the hybrid; place the avian features where they remain visible in the chosen pose.

Why do the wings and tail merge?

They may overlap with similar values and very small gaps. Simplify the outer feather groups and preserve a background channel between the wing and tail rather than adding more fine lines.

Do all griffin illustrations need the same anatomy?

No. Historical, heraldic and modern fantasy drawings use different proportions and poses. Keep one consistent source construction within a design rather than assuming every variation follows one game character model.

Does the GIF contain a wing-flapping cycle?

It gently floats the entire licensed illustration. Its wing outline stays fixed, so the file is not a separately drawn flap, landing or attack animation.

Choose the hybrid outline first

Block in a beak, a clear wing shape and a lion-like body, then add only the feather groups that survive at your intended size.
