Divoom FlowToo Review: Physical Controls and Phone-Free Sleep Sounds

Written by Divoom Professional Team

Updated on

The Divoom FlowToo appeals to Paul as a compact Bluetooth speaker that can also keep time and play bedtime sounds without leaving a phone in charge of every interaction. In this review by Paul - Gadget Mad (honest) Tech Reviewer., he concentrates on the physical controls, a short music sample and the sleep-sound mode.

He likes the sound and appearance, and he is interested in using it while improving his bedtime routine. His conclusion is still a first impression: he says he has not yet had the opportunity to try sleeping with it. The useful question this video answers is how easily it moves between a speaker, clock and standalone sound machine.

Physical controls keep the basics within reach

The FlowToo is small enough for Paul to hold up while explaining its controls. Under a removable rubber side cover are the charging connection and TF, or microSD, card slot. It has an internal battery, and the power switch also serves as a child lock. He mentions the included lanyard as another small convenience for moving it around.

On top are the menu, sleep and timer-related controls, plus a rotary knob that he primarily uses for volume. The red front control can be pressed to select an item or rocked in different directions to navigate. Back and brightness buttons sit below it.

This arrangement is the practical center of his walkthrough. He can move through options directly on the speaker, while the clock face supplies time at a glance. Paul notes that the display can be configured through the Divoom app, but he does not turn this video into an app-editing tutorial.

A short Bluetooth demonstration gives his first sound impression

Paul plays music over Bluetooth from a tablet beside him. The sample is brief, but his response is positive: he finds the speaker loud for its size and says the result is “not at all bad.” That is his listening impression from this demonstration.

Divoom's current product information lists a 10W speaker. Paul's clip focuses on how it sounds in his room, where the small body gives him more output than its size initially suggests.

Sleep sounds can run without keeping the phone involved

The dedicated sleep control opens the feature Paul is most interested in exploring. He describes around 90 sleep-related sounds, with nature, white-noise and music-like choices. Moving the front rocker across or up and down lets him browse the available options, accompanied by different screen scenes.

A timer can stop playback after the period you choose. That gives you control over how long a sound continues after you settle down. It is a timed stop; the demonstration does not show the device detecting when Paul falls asleep.

He particularly likes that a phone is not needed for this basic sound-machine role. The TF card slot provides another route for keeping music on the device, while the Bluetooth demonstration shows how to use a tablet or phone when you do want an external source. Those are different ways of using the same speaker rather than a requirement to keep streaming all night.

A promising bedtime companion, with the overnight test still ahead

Paul's interest is personal: he is thinking about his sleep pattern as he approaches retirement and is looking at sleep-oriented gadgets. He likes the FlowToo's compact design, sound and straightforward idea. He also makes clear that trying it during an actual night is still ahead of him.

That makes this review most useful if you want to see the controls and hear his immediate reaction before deciding whether the combination suits your own room. A configurable clock, physical navigation and built-in sound choices are the features he actually explores. A conclusion about better sleep would go beyond what he reports.

If those everyday controls match the way you want to use a bedside speaker, check the current FlowToo details and availability before buying.
