Open the editor ↗A woodpecker can perch upright against a trunk or become a small red-crested cartoon. Compare natural illustration studies, dark silhouettes and a warm sunset scene.

6 licensed woodpecker illustration studies converted to 128 × 128. One example uses a locally assembled whole-illustration bobbing GIF; this does not animate separate body parts.

Use a straighter pointed beak and a more upright trunk-perching pose. A deep hooked beak can suggest another bird construction.
Use a few larger wing patches and simplify repeated fine lines. The head, crest and beak should stay clearer than the interior feather texture.
Keep the pointed beak aimed toward the trunk while preserving a small gap or contrast boundary. Start with that shape in the pixel art maker.
