Duck Pixel Art: Broad Bills, Rounded Bodies & Waterbird Characters

A duck can be a rubber-toy shape, a calm waterbird or an upright cartoon. Compare bills, tails and feet across licensed illustrations before making a square pixel version.

Duck pixel art questions

Why does my duck look like a chicken?

Use a broader flatter bill and a rounded lower body. A narrow pointed beak and long legs can push the design toward a chicken.

Do I need to show water?

Not always. A low swimming silhouette can imply the pose on its own. Keep a water accent simple so it does not hide the belly edge.

How do I preserve an orange bill in a yellow face?

Separate the colors by lightness or outline. Similar bright shades may merge when the palette is reduced.

Choose a shape for your duck

Give the broad bill a clear projection and a notch near the forehead.
