Review – Divoom Ditoo: Functinally beautiful yet quirky
I absolutely love these kinds of gadgets. It’s a product that doesn’t feel like it’s taking itself seriously, yet manages to do everything exceptionally well. It’s like humble-bragging but with substance. The Divoom Ditoo, while it is a Bluetooth speaker, is first and foremost – a beautiful piece of customizable pixel art decor.
Let us walk through the experience from the beginning until the end to see what’s up.
The packaging of the Divoom Ditoo is seriously something else. The bag that came alongside it seems to be custom-made to fit only the Ditoo, and it also comes with a case too!
The Divoom Ditoo also has Gateron mechanical keyboard switches (yes, genuine keyboard switches) and topped with a custom keycap. There’s also a lever that is very reminiscent of arcades, which is exactly what they’re aiming for.
This Ditoo comes packed with a few classic games like Bricks, Snakes, Tetris, and even the racing car game which I have no recollection of what name it is officially called. Either way, this Ditoo can be a gaming device too.
The Divoom Ditoo also has… a magic 8-ball feature. It works, I guess?
I just gotta say, the app – though seems daunting at first, is actually very functional. It’s easy to use and we customized the heck of the Divoom Ditoo. We can draw our own animation frame by frame, upload our own images, or just browse the Divoom’s gallery to see what the community has already shared.
And of course, the Ditoo is still a Bluetooth speaker – and surprisingly, it sounds great. It also has a bass port at the back of the “screen”, which allows it to have very rich bass. For a top-firing speaker, it’s amazing.
If you’re someone who still keeps mp3 files, then you can also slot in a microSD card slot with all of your mp3 files and play them directly on the Ditoo itself.
At the end of the day, for RM369, the Divoom Ditoo is a beautiful piece of furniture decor but it’s still a Bluetooth speaker in essence. Just that everyone will look at the Ditoo and not realizing it’s a speaker at first.
